'Neurodivergent' is an umbrella term describing groups of people whose brains function differently from the norm in some way, including such diagnoses as Autism, ADHD, anxiety, OCD, Anxiety Disorders, Sensory Processing Disorders, learning differences, and more. These variations in brain function can be associated with co-occurring conditions and unique presentations that can be misdiagnosed, which leads to potential harm for clients. This webinar will be an introduction to the world of Neurodivergence, focusing on diagnosis and an exploration of working effectively with neurodivergent clients in the therapy room.

Workshop Objectives:

At the end of the workshop, participants will:

  1. Gain a comprehensive understanding of neurodiversity across historical, biological, social, and ethical contexts.
  2. Explore differential diagnosis considering neurodivergence to ensure accurate and ethical client care.
  3. Explore how neurodiversity impacts and is impacted by current therapeutic frameworks and be equipped to ethically treat a wider range of clients.
  4. Develop a toolbox of neurodiversity-affirming practices to empower clients in and out of the therapy room.
