Description: This course is appropriate for all experience levels of social workers in all clinical settings. It is an introductory-level course for working with transgender clients using a holistic wellness model.
Among the topics discussed will be: cultural sensitivity/competence, gender identity, gender expression, transphobia, gender dysphoria, assessment, treatment planning, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Course Objectives
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Use gender-affirming language.
- Understand the role of transphobia and gender dysphoria in accessing help.
- Consider the benefits of a holistic wellness model and treatment modalities for transgender clients.
- Serve transgender clients in a culturally sensitive way with a non-pathologizing perspective.
