Workshop Description:
Many individuals have difficulty recognizing their emotions and/or difficulty tolerating uncomfortable ones. In addition, many individuals are easily derailed by unproductive thought patterns. Mindfulness Intuitive Painting provides a unique opportunity to increase skills in dealing with difficult thoughts and emotions as they arise, leading to a reduction in reactivity and suffering.
In this experiential workshop, you’ll participate in mindfulness meditation, intuitive painting, and discussions around increasing one’s window of tolerance, defined by psychiatrist Daniel Siegel as “the band of arousal within which an individual can function well.” Techniques from Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy will be used.
This workshop is appropriate for any social worker regardless of experience. No experience or confidence needed in painting or meditation.
