GWSCSW Statement on ICE-Related Fatalities and Community Impact

Monday, January 26, 2026 11:26 PM | Anonymous

The Greater Washington Society for Clinical Social Work (GWSCSW) is deeply concerned by the killing of U.S. citizens by federal immigration enforcement (ICE).

This devastating loss of life is not an isolated incident, but part of a broader and deeply troubling pattern that threatens community safety, undermines public trust, and inflicts profound harm on individuals, families, and communities.

As clinical social workers committed to human dignity, social justice, and trauma-informed practice, we recognize the far-reaching psychological and community impacts of violent enforcement actions.

GWSCSW calls for immediate transparency, independent investigation, and full accountability.

We further urge meaningful systemic reform to ensure that enforcement practices protect constitutional rights, minimize harm, and uphold the safety and well-being of all people.
